Guntur: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief N Raghuveera Reddy described Jawaharlal Nehru as an architect of the nation. Speaking at 126th birth anniversary celebrations of the first Prime Minister of India, held at Andhra Christian College, here on Saturday, Raghuveera Reddy said that it was under his leadership foundation to the development of India was laid.

The PCC chief used the programme to launch a tirade against BJP and TDP parties. “Central and State governments are seeing Nehru through political lens and not giving him his due. It was Nehru who gave direction to the country and laid a strong secular foundation.

Sadly, communal forces are now tampering with the social and religious fabric of the country,” he lamented. Recalling the landmark achievements of Nehru as the Prime Minister, Raguveera Reddy said that if not for the Five Year Plans, the country wouldn’t have seen any development. “The five year plans were instrumental in addressing economic and regional disparities in the country.

He even developed different sectors of the country including agriculture and industry etc by prioritising them in the five year plans,” he said.
