UK doctors to perform heart surgeries in city hospitals

Speaking to the newsmen at Brain and Heart Institute on Sunday, Dr Ramana Murthy said that the UK-based NGO will not only perform the operations but will also look into the post operative care for the patients with help of their Paediatric Intensive Care specialists. Heart surgeons would operate children of different age groups with congenital heart diseases including that of septal defects in the heart, congenital problems in major blood vessels, diseases affecting valves in the heart among others, he said.

He added that a continuous medical education programme was held by the Indian Academy of Paediatrics, AP State by the UK team to enlighten the cardiologists, paediatricians, neonatologists and post graduate students. On December 5, founder of Pratyusha Support, Actress Samantha would visit the clinics to spend time with the doctors and patients, added Ramana Murthy. Paediatric Surgeon Dr P V Rama Rao, interventional cardiologist Dr Dilip, Healing Little Hearts, UK team led by Dr Sanjeev, and other doctors from UK were present at the meet.
