YSRCP draws up plans for 2019 Assembly polls

The YSRCP which has 5 MLAs out of 19 to its credit from East Godavari district, is gearing up for 2019 Assembly polls three years in advance. In political circles, it is strongly believed that majority of seats in the district will pave the way for attaining power in the State and caste equations will play a major role in selection of candidates.

Kakinada: The YSRCP which has 5 MLAs out of 19 to its credit from East Godavari district, is gearing up for 2019 Assembly polls three years in advance. In political circles, it is strongly believed that majority of seats in the district will pave the way for attaining power in the State and caste equations will play a major role in selection of candidates.
Against this backdrop, party supremo Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in consultations with his close aide Chalamalasetty Sunil Kumar who unsuccessfully contested for Kakinada Parliament seat twice in 2009 and 2014, chalking out plans for the next polls in 2019 well in advance.
Accordingly, Kurasala Kannababu is being roped into YSRCP on December 9 and will be the party’s candidate for Kakinada Rural Assembly segment. Kannababu earlier represented the same constituency during 2009-14 as PRP candidate and lost 2014 general elections contesting as an independent candidate.
As far as Kakinada city constituency is concerned, it is said that a close aide of Jagan and former MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy will be shifted to Annaparti constituency where the Reddy community is in majority number. With former Minister and four-time MLA Mutta Gopala Krishna’s kin in the forefront , a Brahmin, a member of fishermen community or most probably a woman candidate will be selected as the party candidate for Kakinada city.
It is also learnt that the party will allot Tuni, Prathipadu, Jaggampeta and Pithapuram for members of Kapu community. However, the decision for Peddapuram seat has been deferred.
