Suicide bid by woman, daughter

A 55-year-old woman died on the spot and her daughter seriously injured,when they attempted suicide on the tracks at Powerpet Railway Station on Monday night.
Eluru: A 55-year-old woman died on the spot and her daughter seriously injured,when they attempted suicide on the tracks at Powerpet Railway Station on Monday night.
According to Railway police, Minakshamma (55) and her daughter Rama Vijayalakshmi (35) of Eluru city came to Powerpet railway station and jumped before a speeding train. Rama Vijayalakshmi was admitted to Eluru Government Hospital. The details of both woman and daughter were not known till Tuesday night.
The daughter who was in unconscious stage since last night came to conscious stage by the evening. The Railway police tried to get details from her about their whereabouts. Their relatives are residing at Southern Street in Eluru, the police said. Vijayalakshmi was a divorcee. The reason for suicide attempt was not known to the police. No relative has come to the hospital.
Her husband’s relatives informed the police that they were on their way to hospital. Details are awaited. Her condition is critical, according to hospital sources. Eluru Railway SI Sobhan Kumar registered a case.
