Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh government clarified that no Government Order (GO) has been issued for bauxite mining operations in Agency areas of Visakhapatnam.

In a reply to a starred question by the MLCs- B Changal Rayudu and P J Chandra Shekara Rao , Minister for Women Development and Child Welfare and Mines and Geology, P Sujatha, clarified that the GO 97 issued on November 5 was not related to bauxite mining as alleged by the opposition parties.

“The order was issued by the State Forest and Environment department for forest clearance and diversion of land to AP Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC). So far the APMDC got clearances from forest and environment departments but they still need to get mandatory clearances like Consent For Establishment (CFE), Consent For Operation (CFO) etc. As such no bauxite ore is allotted to them,” she asserted.

Sujatha said that one industry, an aluminum refinery has been established by RAK Aluminum Limited and they require 3.8 million tones of bauxite per year.
