The Chief Minister laid foundation stone for an academic block which would be built at a cost of Rs 40 crore and went through the technical exhibition in the university. He urged the students of IIITs to scale new heights in technology by making use of available resources

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that the State would achieve progress if modern technology is used for development of several sectors.

The Chief Minister said the State has been facing several challenges after the bifurcation and at the same time, there is a need to build the capital immediately.

Addressing the first convocation of IIIT at Nuzvid in Krishna district on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that several small countries were achieving good progress by using technology.

He said Nuzvid would be developed as a IT hub. The Chief Minister said the government has been making efforts to get several Central educational institutions to the State.

Naidu said that the students of IIIT should emerge as technology giants by using available resources. HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that a IIIT each would be set up in Prakasam district and North Andhra districts.

He said that the IIIT has been providing best technical educational opportunities to students of rural areas. In-charge Chancellor D Raj Reddy said that the IIIT should be developed as top technology institution.

Incharge Vice-Chancellor P Vijay Kumar said IIIT students would emerge as technology providers to the country. Incharge Director P Ramanarasimham read the convocation report. The university presented gold medals to 8 meritorious students.

Earlier, the Chief Minister laid foundation stone for an academic block which would be built at a cost of Rs 40 crore and went through the technical exhibition in the university. Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, District Collector Babu A and SP Vijaykumar were present.
