The party delegation hands over the notice to the Assembly Secretary K Satyanarayana Rao. The YSRCP says Kodela was functioning like a ‘TDP activist’ and not as a Speaker. Party chief Jaganmohan Reddy slams the Speaker and objects to adjournment of the house sine die.

The main opposition YSR Congress party on Wednesday served a notice of no-confidence motion against AP Assembly Speaker K Sivaprasada Rao. The party delegation led by Deputy Floor leader Jyothula Nehru handed over the notice to the Assembly Secretary K Satyanarayana Rao at the latter’s office here.

It was the second time that the YSR Congress party moved no-confidence motion against the Speaker. During budget session in March, the party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy moved the motion because their party members were not allowed to speak on public issues in the session. But later they withdrew the notice.
Talking to media after submitting the notice, YSRCP leaders said Speaker was behaving like ‘TDP activist.’ "Our party has taken strong objection to the style of functioning of the Speaker and we have to take the unfortunate decision to move the no-confidence motion,” said Nehru who pressed the chair to allow to call money racket but the Speaker rejected the opposition appeal and supported treasury benches.
Later speaking to media, Jagan strongly objected the adjournment of the house sine die without holding debate on call money racket and other people’s issues raised by his party. His party demanded to convene the session for two weeks but the government wound up the session in five days.
He took strong exception for the suspension of his party MLA K Roja for one year on charges of violating the Assembly rules. Speaker has no authority to suspend a member without clarifying doubts raised by his party on suspension.
The YSR Congress leader said the adoption of 8 bills in the assembly without main opposition was a ‘mockery of democracy”. He sought to know why the
government was scrapping the GO 97 relating to bauxite mining in Agency area in Visakhapatnam since government scrapped
only the GO pertaining to the bauxite supply to the private companies.
