Addressing the Anganwadi staff here, Murali alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has no moral right to continue in power. He said Anganwadi workers and helpers from all over the state have attended the dharna organised at AP Assembly to express their grievances for not remitting hiked wages.
He slammed the TDP government for terminating 30,000 Anganwadi workers and helpers from services for participating in dharna. He condemned the ruling government’s decision to sack Anganwadi staff.
The CPM leader said that they have staged protests on several occasions to bring problems of Anganwadi workers and helpers to the government’s notice. “The TDP government was reluctant to resolve problems of Anganwadi staff,” he added.
He found fault with the government for trying to hand over Anganwadi system to the private agencies. Murali made it clear that the CPM has decided to launch an indefinite agitation against the State government until the demands of the Anganwadi staff were met.
AITUC district president P Chaithanya expressed anguish that thousands of Anganwadi workers and helpers are yet to receive their salaries for the last six months. He made the ICDS PO responsible for not remitting pending wages of the Anganwadi staff.
He alleged that certain Child Development Project Officers (CPDOs) are harassing the Anganwadi workers and helpers. The AP Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association district president Hemalatha and others spoke.
