Chittoor: Task Force and police personnel have arrested 15 red sanders woodcutters here on Thursday. They seized 28 red sanders logs and 3 four-wheelers worth Rs 16 lakh from them.
Speaking to the media, Task Force DSP Giridhar said that police have arrested S Tirupati, K Madhav, R Shanmugam, S Raman, Annapas, S Raja, R Gopalaswamy, R Annamalai, V Subramanyam, R Ganesh, G Mangammal, Anna Dorai, C Doraiswamy, P Venkata Ramana and Muttuvadi. All of them are the residents of Dharmapuri district in Tamil Nadu.
Giridhar said that the police personnel belonging to Chittoor taluk police station, Penumur police station and S R police station have conducted the raids in their respective police station limits and seized red sanders logs and four-wheelers. Chittoor DSP Lakshmi Naidu exuded confidence of bringing down the red sanders smuggling activities in the district by next year. Taluk police station SI Murali and other police officials were present.
