Briefing the media, he stated that Janmabhoomi would be taken up in 898 villages from 9 a.m. onwards, by holding discussions on important issues and follow-up steps would be taken up. The programme was being implemented to usher in basic changes in Navyandhra Pradesh. The stress would be on the Panta Sanjeevani programme for ensuring improved groundwater levels in rainfall-deficit areas.
The steps to be taken would include distribution of 1.7 lakh ration cards, while 21,000 cards would be verified. The PDS provision kits would be distributed from February 1. The Chandranna Sankranti Kanuka provisions would be handed over to people, except Christians.
Referring to the Mee Intiki Mee Bhoomi programme, the Collector said 95 per cent of land problems were solved during its two phases. Proposals for laying of 340-km internal roads have been received. Administrative approval for 140-km internal roads costing Rs 80 crore have been approved.
He stated that farmers were coming forward to build farm ponds in their lands. The target in the next three months would be one lakh farms. About one-third of 1,452 tanks in the district would de-silted. De-silting of two crore cubic metres in 634 minor irrigation tanks has been targeted.
The Collector appealed to farmers to submit applications for sinking borewells in 432 villages under NTR Jalasiri scheme. He complimented the media for bringing about a change in people’s thinking by highlighting last year’s development during last year.
