Visakhapatnam: The third round of Janmabhoomi-Maa Vooru will be launched from Saturday in the district with a special focus on smart villages and municipal wards and the programme will conclude on January 11.

Gram Sabhas will be conducted in all 925 villages and 190 municipal wards in the district and two teams, each comprising tahsildar and mandal parishad development officer appointed by the government will monitor the mandal-level programmes. Apart from this, a district-level officer has been appointed as a special officer to each mandal as all the Janmabhoomi committees will play a prominent role. During Gram Sabhas, it was decided to distribute 1.15 lakh ration cards and also select the deserved beneficiaries of NTR Housing Scheme besides the officials will discuss about the implementation of welfare schemes.

The State government has appointed two senior officials-Syamala Rao, who earlier worked as the Collector here and Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests N Prateep Kumar, as Janambhoomi observers who inspect Gram Sabhas. Since the entire government machinery from the field-level to the district-level will be going to the villages and wards to participate in the Gram Sabhas, the public could easily redress their problems if any easily in the Gram Sabhas.
