Tirupati: The local MLA M Suguna said that the State government has launched the third phase of Janmabhoomi-Mana Vooru programme for the benefit of the poor. Speaking after launching the Janmabhoomi at Thimminaidupalem locality in the city here on Saturday, she said that the purpose of the programme is to take the government welfare schemes to the door steps of the eligible poor and wanted them to make use of the programme.

The MLA stated that the State government is committed to the welfare of poor. She said that all the pending applications including new white ration cards and old-age pensions will also be cleared during the ten-day programme.

Meanwhile, the CPM city secretary Subramanyam submitted a memorandum to the MLA and asked her to sort out the issue of ration cards distribution. The officials released only the list of the beneficiaries, who are eligible for white ration cards but informed that the cards will be issued later. The CPM leader also said that the authorities have refused to issue white ration cards to those who are having double cylinders which created apprehension among the poor that their ration cards may be cancelled. He wanted the officials to issue white ration cards irrespective of the number of gas cylinders.
