He launched the district-level Janmabhoomi- Maa Vooru programme at Chadalada village in Peddapuram mandal on Saturday. The minister said that the massive programme would be taken up through National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS). This programme would help to protect the water from wastage and to use it for immediate need of the farmers for protecting the crops. The Minister requested the farmers to make use of the facility. Speaking on laying of CC roads in the villages, he said that Rs 160 crore of NREGS and 13th Finance Commission funds would be spent for this purpose apart from drains in all villages in the district.

Modernisation works of Yeleru reservoir project in the district would be taken up with Rs 26 crore. He assured the farmers of providing irrigation water for second crop in the district.
