Tirupati: TTD Annamacharya Project Kalakarula Union (APKU) staged a novel protest by rendering devotional songs, to press the TTD management to concede the demands of the union for the benefit of the 420 artistes working in the project.

Speaking on the occasion, APKU president K Chandrasekhara Bhagavathar and secretary M Gangulappa said that as part of the musical protest, the artistes will render Annmayakirthanas from morning 8 to night 8 to draw the attention of the management on solving their issues.

The leaders said that the union has been demanding salary to the artistes on monthly basis and issuing of identity cards, laddu cards, and medical facility in SVIMS, house sites, Brahmotsavam honorarium and priority to the artistes to perform in their native districts.

The leaders said that though the artistes completed 21 years of service in the TTD project, the TTD failed to provide proper salary and other facilities in recognition of their services for promotion of devotion and spirituality through Annamayya Kirtanas.
