Hindupur: Information and PR Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy asserted here on Thursday that the TDP government is prompt in responding to the needs of the people. Addressing a massive public meeting organised to mark the third phase of Janmabhoomi-Maa Vooru programme at MGM Grounds, he cited waiver of loans worth Rs 24,000 crore of 84 lakh farmers, setting up of Rs 10,000 crore investment fund for over 60 lakh DWCRA women and writing off Rs 3,000 crore interest on loans as courageous deeds of the government, for the first time in the country’s history.
The Minister described the programme as a forum for people, officials and public representatives to discuss solutions to problems. He praised film star and local MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna for taking up development works in the constituency costing Rs 150 crore. Palle said he had released Rs one crore following Balayya’s request for carrying out repairs of mosque. Soon a Rs 2,000-crore hardware park would be launched near Kodikonda to provide employment to 10,000 persons, he disclosed. Addressing the meeting, Balakrishna stated that if people, officials and people’s representatives strive in unity, development would be possible in a short time, as witnessed in his constituency. He praised Chief Minister and brother-in-law N Chandrababu Naidu for ushering in revolutionary changes in the State, despite the State facing financial crunch.
Balakrishna pledged to the gathering to spend devoted time to Hindupur after Sankranti concentrating only on development. He would organise the Lepakshi Utsavalu on February 27 and 28. State BC Finance Corporation chairman P Ranganayakulu promised to join hands with Naidu and Balakrishna for the development of Hindupur, and uplift of all sections of people.
Collector Kona Sashidhar revealed that 99 per cent of the issues raised by the people during the Janmabhoomi programme have been addressed. He urged people to utilise the newly introduced Talli-Bidda Express vehicles for reducing women/child mortality rate. Later Palle, Balakrishna, Ranganayakulu and Sashidhar distributed ration cards, Chandranna Sankranti Kanukalu and Deepam gas connections to beneficiaries.
