Visakhapatnam: The TDP government, which introduced Janmabhoomi-Maa Vooru as its pet programme, is only to redress the public grievances at the Gram Sabhas, felt Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao.

At the Janmabhoomi Gram Sabha held at 27, 28 and 30 wards under the limits of Visakha South Assembly segment at the Indira Priyadarshni Municipal Stadium on Friday, Srinivasa Rao while reviewing the implementation of the welfare schemes, he said that the municipal stadium would be renovated in order to conduct the national games and sports here.

He informed that development works worth Rs 75 crore at One Town area were completed and the development of KGH and the Victoria General Hospital is a continuous process. Road laying and widening works at Convent Junction, Old town area, KGH and Poorna market would be taken up with the funds of government and the Visakhapatnam Port Trust. He complimented the initiative of the Port chairman T Krishna Babu for having spent a sum of Rs 3,000 crore to reduce the port pollution and appealed to the public to utilise the services of Gram Sabha.

MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar informed that One Town area was reeling under pollution due to coal and iron exports and efforts are on to control the growing pollution levels. He appealed to the Minister to take necessary steps for adopting Aganwadi Centres and the government schools at One Town area. Port chairman Krishna Babu, Municipal Commissioner Praveen Kumar, Zonal Commissioner Y Srinivasa Rao and others were present.
