Right now, Kola Raghupathi is the only MLA from Bapatla Assembly constituency representing the entire Brahmin community in the State, he pointed out. Unity is the need of the hour among the Brahmins to resolve their problems, he added.

Participating in Chittoor District Brahmana Chaithanya Sadassu at Venkusa Kalanamandapam here on Sunday, Srikanth declared that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was kind enough to constitute Brahmin Welfare Corporation with an initial out lay of Rs 200 crore.

He said that the Chief Minister has ensured to sanction Rs 500 crore for the Brahmin Welfare Corporation in which all the needs of the Brahmins would be attended through proper planning and implementation of various schemes.

He said Vidya Bharathi scheme evoked good response from Brahmin candidates. It is evident that 70 per cent of the Brahmins are under below poverty line. The government should ensure certain reservation quota for the Brahmins in educational institutions and job recruitment. A representation has already been submitted to the Chief Minister for sanctioning white ration cards, pensions and house sites for the poor Brahmins in the State, he said.

Bapatla MLA Kola Raghuram participating in the State-level meeting made it clear that he was making relentless efforts to focus on the issues of the Brahmin community in the floor of the Assembly.

There is need to bring all the Brahmins to a common platform to evolve a strategy for the development of Brahmin community in the State, he added.

He declared that he was seriously contemplating to organise Brahmins Atama Gouravam meeting in Guntur soon in which above one lakh Brahmins would take part.

Srikanth further stated that a decision would be taken at the mega meet in Guntur on Brahmins political strategy. Senior Brahmin Societies leaders across the State like Kota Sankara Sarma, Malini, Venkatramaiah, Ramana, and others were present.
