Anantapur: Family members of former Minister the late Paritala Ravi, Telugu Desam Party leaders and activists paid glowing tributes to the latter on his 11th death anniversary at his native village Venkatapuram in Ramagiri mandal in Anantapur district on Sunday. The family members, including Minister Paritala Sunitha, performed special puja at the ghat. Zilla Parishad Chairman Chaman Saab also offered prayers.

Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy, Government Chief Whip K Srinivasulu, MLAs Prabhakar Chowdary, Hanumanthraya Chowdary, Jeetendra Goud, district TDP President BK Parthasarathi were present.

Addressing a gathering, Sunitha said entries for mass marriages will be registered from February 24. She recalled that Ravi had conducted mass marriages of 1,716 to avoid burden to parents of women who are languishing in poverty. The mass marriage programme was being continued under the leadership of her son Sriram.

Palle, who was the chief guest, praised Ravi for his services to the poor and for striving for their uplift. He said Ravi had taken up agitations for people’s benefit, while Sunitha and Sriram were continuing the service activities. Sunitha, Mayor Swaroopa served food to the TDP activists at ‘Annadanam’ programme.

Srinivasulu and Parthasarathi praised Ravi for his services to the poor. Sriram told The Hans India that people of all religions would be included in the mass marriage programme. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was being invited. He said he would enter active politics by contesting the next Assembly elections, with the blessings of the family and party activists.
