Eluru: Andhra Pradesh State BC, OBC Employees’ Welfare Association on Sunday expressed its concern over the TDP government’s proposal to include Kapus on BC list. They described it as antithetical to the promises made by the TDP during the run-up to the 2014 general elections.

Describing it as a conspiracy, the Association which met here on Sunday warned that the move would be detrimental to TDP’s future, and would “bury” it completely in the State.

Association president Govindu pointed out that such a move would be in violation of Articles 340, 15 and 16 of the Constitution, which lays out the provisions for reservations. He also said the Puttuswamy Commission, appointed on the question of reservation to Kapus, did not give favourable report.

He also lashed out at the BC legislators for not taking up the issue with the government, and demanded the government to rollback its proposal at the earliest.
