Anantapur: A local municipal school teacher, Prasad, is running through his NGO Jeevani, a school for orphans, besides taking care of their needs, thus becoming their guardian, in Rotarypuram. The school, located in Bukkaraya Samudram mandal, is akin to a corporate institution, offering quality education to the unfortunate children, who have lost their parents early in their lives. Prasad and his wife constructed a building for the orphans, after setting up Jeevani in cooperation with his friends, in 2009 when the number of children rose. Initially, he had kept the children, aged below seven years, with him, providing them food and other facilities.
The school, with classes up to fifth from LKG, has all facilities, including stationery. With only 38 orphans, Prasad found it hard to run the school. He admitted students from surrounding areas to take the strength to 200. Ten teachers have been appointed. They are being paid by the couple, who wish to strengthen the school by their resolve that the children should not go astray while growing up.
With quality food, stay and education, the orphans are able to grow like other normal children. They say that the school has good facilities, including stay and that Prasad is taking care of them, without giving rise to any complaints.
Prasad told The Hans India that he had started the school with the motive that such children should not face any problems in society. “My family is spending quality time with these orphans so that they don’t feel isolated, taking care of all their needs.”
He said the school has been set up with contributions made by philanthropists. People, who are already aware of the services being provided by Jeevani through its website, are extending their cooperation. Tadipatri MLA J C Prabhakar Reddy said he himself had extended help to Prasad, after seeing his worthy efforts, visiting the school and chatting with the students.
He offered to provide all required facilities to the institution, like roads, accommodation and building.
