Vijayawada: The Andhra Bicycling Club, in association with Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC), will organise a Mega Cycle Rally from Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium on February 7, to create awareness about the importance of cycling and also to motivate the youth about the usage bicycles.
Taking to the newsmen here on Thursday, the club president and managing director of Andhra Hospitals, Dr PV Ramana Murthy, said that there was need to save environment and create pollution-free atmosphere in the Vijayawada city as it was designated as the part of the Amaravati capital.
People in the modern day life had been customised themselves to travel in their two-wheeler or four-wheeler vehicles for shorter distances. Cycling would not only help people in staying healthy but it would also help in reducing pollution, he said.
Ramana Murthy also exhorted that every individual should feel responsible and make a habit of using bicycle once in a week to stay fit. The rally would highlight the need of usage of public transportation systems to save the renewable resources and money, he said.
Certificates and T-Shirts would be provided to the enthusiasts interested to take part in the mega rally, he added.
