Eluru: Mahatma Gandhiji’s death anniversary was observed in West Godavari district on Saturday. At Collectorate in Eluru, Collector K Bhaskar garlanded the portrait of Gandhiji and paid rich tributes to the departed leader. The employees and Collector observed two-minute silence.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that Gandhiji’s life was an ideal to all people in the country for a peaceful living. Joint Collectors P Koteswara Rao, M H Sheriff, Collectorate AO G V Subbarao, Superintendent Dora, Treasury Deputy Director Mohan Rao, District Panchayat Officer Rajyalakshmi and others participated in the programme. District Superintendent of Police Bhaskar Bushan paid homage to Bapuji at the district police office.

DSPs GVS Paideswara Rao (DCRB), P Bhaskar (Special Branch), K Chandrasekhar (AR), AR Reserve Inspector K Venkat Rao, District Police office Administrative Officer TS Shyamala Rao, police personnel participated in the programme.

In Eluru Municipal Corporation, Commissioner Y Sai Sarikanth and employees paid homage to the Father of the Nation. The Commissioner called upon the staff to develop work culture as a respect to the great leader. The Commissioner and other officials and employees observed two-minute silence to pay tributes to Gandhiji.
