Red sanders logs worth 4.5 crore seized
In a major offensive against the red sanders operatives, the Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) and police seized 117 red sanders logs worth Rs 4.5 crore in the international market in three incidents on Sunday .

A combing party led by RSI Bhaskar spotted a group of red sanders operatives carrying red sanders logs near Chelopalli six km from here in the early hours of Sunday.
The smugglers first resisted the police when they tried to nab them, but ultimately fled leaving behind the red sanders. All but one smuggler managed to escape by retreating into the deep forest near SV Zoological Park.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested smuggler was identified as a notorious smuggler Thangappan, a resident of Polur in Tiruvannamalai district of Tamil Nadu.
In the continued search in the area, police recovered 28 red sanders logs, while the combing operation is on full swing with additional force was brought in to track down the escaped smugglers in the forest area of SV Zoo Park.
