Tirupati: TTD Trust Board Chairman Dr Ch Krishnamurthy said that soon a branch of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU) will come up at the new capital city Amaravati.

Addressing the media at TTD-run SVVU, after the varsity Executive Committee meeting here on Wednesday, the Chairman said, the temple town wakes up daily to the Sanskrit Slokas which offer a refreshing feel to denizens.

“Similarly, we want to make our new capital city Amaravati to feel the same by opening a Centre of SVVU there", he asserted. Adding further he said, the Vedic varsity of TTD is considered the best in the entire nation with 350 students in 26 courses pertaining to four VEDAS.

"Eight Sanskrit colleges and three Vedic schools are affiliated to SVVU. Apart from the regular courses, the varsity is also offering courses including Vaastu, Jyotishya and Ayurveda as evening course.

We have taken some important decisions in EC meeting today", he said. The decisions taken in the meeting include MoU with French Institute in Puducherry to strengthen research on Sanskrit works.

The Institute is having a large collection of Sanskrit works including rare books and manuscripts which are immensely useful in the research activities in the ancient language and a tie-up with `Bharath Vani, a wing of MHRD, Government of India.

The varsity will observe Sahasrabdi - the 1000th birth anniversary of Saint Ramanujacharya for three days in a big way in April and also will associate with TTD for conducting the year-long Sahasrabdi celebration of the founder of Vaishnavism.
