Stone for temporary secretariat on Feb 12
The State government has finally set the Muhurat for the foundation laying ceremony for the temporary Secretariat to come up in Velagapudi. The Minister for Municipal Administration Dr P Narayana, told The Hans India on Friday that the date and the time were set for the foundation ceremony.
Vijayawada: The State government has finally set the Muhurat for the foundation laying ceremony for the temporary Secretariat to come up in Velagapudi. The Minister for Municipal Administration Dr P Narayana, told The Hans India on Friday that the date and the time were set for the foundation ceremony.
“In all probability the foundation stone for the temporary capital would be laid between 4.15 am and 4.45 am on February 12,” the Minister said. The government had already identified Velagapudi village, close to the two places where Bhoomi Pooja was performed and foundation ceremony was conducted in the past for the capital city.
Though government had initially planned to have the temporary capital in the Amaravati Township location on the outskirts of Mangalagiri, it has finally decided to have even the temporary secretariat in the midst of the 29 capital villages.
The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) had carried out soil tests in the villages and finally zeroed in on Velagapudi. The government would construct a two floor building with each floor having over 3,000 square yards space. The building would be designed for a total of six floors with the government completing the first two floors by June and shifting the secretariat.
The building would be later handed over to the CRDA, once the regular secretariat is constructed as part of the capital. With the date and time fixed for the foundation, the CRDA is going ahead with the plan to start the work and also planning to start the express ways work simultaneously and had prepared a draft plan for the express ways starting from Undavalli in the first phase.
