Kurnool: District Collector Ch Vijaymohan on Tuesday called upon members of the Lakshmi Thrift Women’s Groups to apply for the Housing for All Scheme. Addressing a review meeting here, he said all residents of the town without houses should also apply. Many members of the groups lack own houses.

The Collector said the poor should submit applications for two-bedroom apartments being built in Jagannadagutta in a plinth area of 400 sq ft to avail themselves of the facility being extended by the State government. The apartments, each costing Rs.4.8 lakh, were being constructed on the pattas allotted earlier.

Vijaymohan stated that of the cost, Rs.2.3 lakh would be subsidy and Rs.2 lakh bank loan. He would try to secure the Centre’s permission to allow each beneficiary to remit Rs.50,000 in three instalments. Each apartment would have drinking water, underground drainage and modern facilities.

He said there would be a good demand for houses in Jagannadagutta in future following the location of IIIT. The value of each apartment would go up to Rs.20 lakh. The administration would return within a week Rs.2,200 paid by each beneficiary for the patta.
