Srikakulam: The Integrated Tribal Development Authority (ITDA) governing body meeting here on Saturday witnessed heated arguments on drinking water supply and bad roads in the town. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Minister for Labour K Atchannaidu.
YSRCP Palakonda MLA V Kalavathi raised the issue on poor water supply in the tribal areas and lack of road facility to tribal villages. When Collector P Laxminarasimham tried to explain reasons for delay in works, TDP Palasa MLA GSS Sivaji intervened and made remarks against Tribal Welfare Minister R Kishore Babu for his absence and his indifferent attitude towards tribal issues.

Meanwhile, Labour Minister directed the Collector to take action against rural water supply divisional engineer Mallikharjuna Rao for his failure to resolve the drinking water problem. The meeting discussed about promotions in the horticulture department in the Agency, recruitment of doctors in the tribal areas, allotment of posts only to tribals in the Agency, providing minimum support price to produce like turmeric, pineapple, tamarind and honey.
