Eluru: A B Tech student was missing from his house after his father warned him over his failure in studies. The incident came to light when the students of Eluru College of Engineering staged a demonstration in front of the College principal’s room in the College on Saturday afternoon.
According to police, Chitikela Pradeep Sai Kumar (20), of Tangellamudi area is studying in B Tech third year in Eluru College of Engineering on the outskirts of the city. He is studying in CSE group in the college. The principal, P Balakrishna Prasad, CSE head of the department Guru Kesavulu met student’s father Suryanarayana on February 18 at the college. They told him that his son had failed in 11 subjects in the examinitions and his performance was very poor. Moreover, his behavior was not good. With the information, the father Suryanarayana got angry over his son and scolded him in front of the principal and HOD.
Later on Friday night the student Sai Kumar who depressed with the father’s attitude at the college wrote letter and went out of the house in the midnight. In his letter, he stated that he was going to commit suicide and the principal and the head of the department were the cause for his extreme step. He stated that he loved his family. He also stated that he failed only in one subject and the principal and HOD were mentally torturing him in the college. “In this process, they called my father and gave him wrong impression on me”.
Later in the morning, the family members did not find him elsewhere. His brother Manikantha complained the matter to Two-Town Police and handed over the letters to them.
Meanwhile, knowing the incident, students of Eluru College of Engineering boycotted the classes in the afternoon and raised slogans against the principal and HOD in front of the principal’s office. The Town Circle Inspector N Rajasekhar and Three-Town Sub-Inspector Sagar Babu and police personnel rushed to the college. They are investigating the case.
