Task Force seizes Fortwin injections

The  City Task Force police led by assistant commissioner of police I Chittibabu  arrested a three-member gang in two separate incidents on charges of selling Fortwin injections (sedatives) to the students of various colleges and others in the city on Saturday.

Visakhapatnam: The City Task Force police led by assistant commissioner of police I Chittibabu arrested a three-member gang in two separate incidents on charges of selling Fortwin injections (sedatives) to the students of various colleges and others in the city on Saturday.

The CTF personnel seized 840 ampoules worth Rs 1 lakh from the gang. A special team conducted a raid and arrested G Uma Maheswara Rao and seized 360 ampoules of Fortwin injections, one mobile phone and Rs 800 from him near Isukathota area. The team also arrested Y Suresh from Tenali area K Lakshmana Kumar from Allipuram area and seized another 480 ampoules, Rs1,200 and two mobile phones from them near Gokul Theatre.

The Task Force police personnel said the accused were procuring the injections from medical stores in Khurda, Bhadrak and Berhampur of Odisha and selling them to young addicts in Vizag city at higher prices.

The injections are usually sold strictly on production of medical prescriptions from registered doctors in the State. But, the gang procured the sedatives easily from Odisha, the police added.
