Tirupati: The members of All India Agrigold Consumers and Agents Welfare Association (ACAWA), who met here on Sunday, resolved to launch a relay fast at the Collectorate in Chittoor from February 22 to 27.

The association members, including depositors, agents and marketing personnel of Agrigoldfrom various places in Chittoor district, attended the meet, which was held to discuss the future course of action, to press the government to take up speedy measures to help the depositors get their amount.

Krishnamurthy one of the members, who presided over the meeting, said responding to the call of the All India ACAWA the relay hunger strike will be launched by the affected members of Agrigold for six days at all the Collectorates, in the two Telugu speaking States. If the governments in the two States fail to respondent, depositors and marketing personnel will launch an indefinite fast, he said.

He said that the government delay in taking prompt stern action against the Agrigold chairman and others involved in the fraud involving about Rs 10,000 crore of depositors money, allowed them to hide the properties or manage to dispose them of.

Citing the High Court stricture against the investigation officials, he demanded the government to act swiftly to protect the interests of the depositors.

Sivaramakrishna, former director (marketing) Agrigold, said that the agents and other marketing personnel are ready to lend their support to the investigation officers to identify the assets, including immovable properties, owned by the company for recovering them to pay to the depositors.

Several members, who spoke blamed the government for Agrigoldmanagement, swindling the depositors’ amount and wanted it act tough at least now to render justice to the depositors who are mostly middle and lower income groups. They also warned of dire consequence if the government fails to act.
