Visakhapatnam: Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Girijan Cooperative Corporation (GCC) ASPS Ravi Prakash assured the delegation of Andhra Pradesh State Committee of Girijana Sangham that minimum support price would be declared for all 33 non-timber forest produce being acquired from tribals in the Agency areas.

State Committee president and former MLA Kolaka Lakshmana Murty told The Hans India that following a protest staged in front of the GCC on February 16 by the Girijana Sangham demanding the government to declare MSP to all non-timber forest produce, the GCC has called for talks.

The talks lasted for two hours in which Girijana Sangham Visakha district general secretary P Appala Narsa, Srikakulam district president and secretaries P Kumar, Appanna and Viziangaram district president Ramana and another leader Chittibabu led by Lakshmana Rao participated.

The team demanded the government through GCC MD to allocate Rs 20 crore immediately to strengthen the GCC, regularise contract employees, set up super bazaars in all scheduled mandal centres, appoint tribal youth as salesmen or sales girls by scrapping Daily Ration Depots in the Agency areas, declare MSP to forest produce and scrap GO Nos 68 and 102.
