The board regional manager, Ratna Sagar, replying to the demands of farmers to give a minimum price of Rs 160 per kg, said that the price would increase further in two or three days as the number of buyers increase. He said that as the atmosphere was not well for the tobacco, the production was reduced and was less than the board expected. The former MLA, Divi Sivaram, requested the ITC officials to reconsider the price and offer more taking consideration of the losses that the farmers suffered in last season.

Madala Ramanaiah and K Veera Reddy, farmers association members demanded that the government should see the farmers get a minimum support price of Rs 160 from the very beginning of the auction. If the farmers fails to get the MSP, it was very difficult for them to come out of the losses, they concluded.
