Vijayawada: Members of Nasthika Mitra Mandali, which is formed to discuss on various superstitions and awaken public on such issues, met at the Atheist Centre here on Sunday. The second meet of the association discussed on ‘Vaasthu -A Superstition’.

President of the Nasthika Mitra Mandali Hari Subramanyam addressed the gathering on the occasion and tried to evoke some sense into them. “Vaasthu is not true. When there is science that describes about the planets and their characteristics, it is absolutely senseless to believe in Vaasthu. It is very unscientific and has no valid proof while science clearly explains the phenomenon,” he said.

Many of the people were believing that they should consider re-modeling or take up new constructions or destruct existing ones under misconceptions of Vaasthu. “This activity is a result of ignorance, which is nothing but a waste of money and efforts. In India, where there were historic personalities who contributed to the science, mathematics and history of the world, Vaasthu is more popular than celestial science,” he lamented.

Conveners Rashmi, Dr Keerthi, Dr Maru, Dr Niyantha, Science Centre director Dr Vijayam and others were present.
