He said they had sanctioned a corpus fund of Rs 3 crore for the department for taking up industrial activity in prisons for the benefit of inmates. 

Nellore: Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister N Chinna Rajappa said the State government is modernising prisons with advanced technology and assured that a training centre will come up in Rayalaseema and Borstal school in coastal AP. He addressed a valedictory session of the duty meet organised by AP Jails department at the central jail here on Friday.

He said they had sanctioned a corpus fund of Rs 3 crore for the department for taking up industrial activity in prisons for the benefit of inmates.

“We will modify the diet scale and we also accorded permission for treatment to the prisoners in corporate hospitals,” he added.

ZP chairman B Raghavendra Reddy, Nellore Mayor Abdul Aziz, Director General of prisons T Krishna Raju, IG B Sunil Kumar, and other senior officials were present.
