Visakhapatnam: Collector N Yuvaraj said that necessary steps have been taken to solve the problem of blood shortage in summer as majority of students, who voluntarily offer blood, leave the city for summer vacation.

Inaugurating a mega voluntary blood donation camp organised by the revenue employees here on Friday at the KGH, the Collector appealed to the government employees in the district to offer blood voluntarily to help save others for which necessary encouragement will be given.

“I donate blood in the next phase to help encourage all those donate blood,” he said. Referring to the acute shortage of blood, he stated that it was due to the heavy inflow of patients from other districts and States and moreover, the district centre has to supply required blood sachets to the hospitals in the Agency areas.

Assuring that if a team comes forward to donate blood, the camp will be organised at a place of their choice, Yuvaraj made an earnest appeal to the public to come forward for donating blood which is a great human service to the mankind.

Additional Joint Collecotr D V Reddy, District Revenue Officer Chandrasekhara Reddy, Revenue Divisional Officer S Venkateswarlu, Administrative Officer B S Prakasa Rao, Revenue Employees’ Union president S Nageswara Reddy, Urgan Tahasildar Ravi and a large number of employees attended.
