Vijayawada: The YSRCP leaders went on offensive from day one of the budget session. Reacting sharply to the Governor’s address, the party senior leader Umareddy Venkateswarulu said that the State government prompted the Governor to speak lies.

“Governor claimed that corruption had been rooted out from the State. There cannot be a bigger joke than this, the state is mired deep in corruption,” he charged.

Referring to the claim that the State government was implementing several welfare schemes for girijans, he and other members of YSRCP said that the government had turned blind eye to the sufferings of girijans.

“Even before summer had set in, they were suffering from lack of drinking water. But the government had done nothing. At the ground level no schemes were launched,” they alleged.

Setting out the tone indicating his party’s mood YSRCP leader Srikanth Reddy said, “Though there were a host of the issues, where government failed spectacularly, it has patted itself claiming a series
of achievements on several counts in the Governor’s speech,” he remarked.

He said the YSRCP would take up issues like corruption in land pooling, dissatisfaction of farmers in CRDA, corruption in hiking estimates of irrigation project, corruption in Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme, shortage of sand and shortcomings in sand policy and irregularities to prove that the claims made in the Governors speech were off the mark.

Meanwhile CPI State secretary K Ramakrishna said that the Governor E.S.L.Narasimhan made contrasting statements about the budget in his speech in the Assembly on Saturday and there was no relevance to the points mentioned in the budget.

Ramakrishna has questioned the State government on how they would complete projects without funds. “Governor said that Polavaram irrigation project would be completed by 2018 and new capital would be completed within stipulated time,” how can they be accomplished without funds.

Citing the fact that Governor mentioned that Central government would not fulfil promises made in the AP Re-organisation Bill, Ramakrishna lambasted the State government for not responding against the apathy of the Union government.
