Volleyball tourney kicks off

The National Volleyball tournament for men and women began here at Gollavilli High School under Uppalaguptam mandal on Monday. Deputy Chief Minister N Chinarajappa inaugurated the tournament. As many as 11 teams from across the country are participating in the four-day event.

This tournament is being organised in the memory of Venkata Rangayya, father of the Deputy CM. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the State government was committed to promote sports, especially in rural areas. ZP chairman N Rambabu, Kapu Corporation Chairman Chalamasetti Ramanujaiah and others were also present.
