Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Steel Plant of RINL achieved yet another milestone on Wednesday with the flagging off the first consignment of the high quality rounds rolled out from its recently commissioned Special Bar Mill. The Special Bar Mill was installed at a cost of around Rs 1,000 crore under its 6.3 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) expansion programme.

PC Mohapatra, Director (projects), DN Rao, Director (operations), P Raychaudhury, Director (commercial) of RINL, flagged off the first consignment of the products from the SBM in the presence of senior officers of the plant, marketing and information technology employees and other departments. P Madhusudan, CMD, RINL, while congratulating the staff and officers for the achievement, exhorted the employees to work with dedication and commitment to scale to the rated capacity of the highly sophisticated Special Bar Mill.

The SBM is having the capacity to produce 7.5 lakh tonnes per annum of rounds ranging from 16 to 20 to 45 mm in coil and straight form, mostly used by the automobile and forging industry. The technology was supplied by Primetals (formerly Siemens, Italy). The delivery documents were generated through Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) process.
