Tirupati / Visakhapatnam: TTD EO Dr D Sambasiva Rao on Friday suspended three temple staff working in Venkateswara temple located in Upamaka village in Vizag.
The temple was recently taken over by TTD. Following the alleged misconduct and involvement in illegal activities by the employees in the choultry adjacent to the temple, the EO has initiated action against them.
A press release from TTD here on Friday evening said that, EO also deputed two TTD top officials including Additional CVSO and Spl.Gr.Dy EO to investigate into the allegation against the employees and submit a report for taking up appropriate action on them based on the report.
The three employees suspended are KV Ramana Murthy junior assistant, Narsipuram Suresh, Sruthi Vidwan and A Munikumar, assistant working in the temple.
Dancing and drinking pictures of a staff member K Venkataramana Murthy and an unknown woman, captured in a camera by local people were sent to TV channels and newspapers late on Thursday evening.
One of the video-clippings showed Venkataramana Murthy kissing a woman with a glass of alcohol in his hand.
The same clippings were also sent to the TTD officials. The temple as it had gained immense popularity, was taken over by the TTD in February this year.
A massive festival was conducted from March 18 to 23 which was attended by lakhs of devotees who came from all over the State.
Sources said the incident took place in Satram (rest room) located on the premises of the temple. Three employees including Venkataramana Murthy were drinking liquor along with a woman. The local people who heard noises, became curious and took pictures and video-graphs immediately. The incident took place on Wednesday but the clippings were passed on to media late on Thursday. There seemed to be a fight among the employees during the party. People saw an injury mark on the left ear of Murthy, the sources added.
It may be noted here that the temple was recently handed over to TTD for its development, following representations from the leaders of the district.
