Visakhapatnam: Come summer vacation, Thotlakonda beach would be ready for the tourists with all the facilities. According to the tourism officials, Thotlakonda beach will become one of the most popular beaches in the city after RK Beach and Rushikonda. The officials have identified four beaches-Sagarnagar, Yendada, Thotlakonda and Mangamaripeta in the city for development and of them, they have given top priority for Thotlakonda beach in the city.
The government had sanctioned Rs 14 crore in the first phase for development and beautification of the six beaches, including the existing Rushikonda and Bheemili. The works at Thotlakonda beach are almost complete.
Source said that Thotlakonda has a park with sprawling lawns and landscape, four food courts with spacious dining space, washrooms for men and women, toilets and few other basic amenities. The tourism officials have been waiting for Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to Vizag for inauguration of the beach. The beautification works at Rushikonda beach are at a fast track and green lawns and plantain, containers for water sports such as surfing and few others, food courts, cultural complex and few others to be completed in couple of months.
The Tourism department had planned to promote Vizag as city of hills and beaches to attract the tourists from various parts of the country as well as foreigners. Newly developed Thotlakonda beach in Vizag city to be open for general public soon and three more beaches in the city will be ready by May, said District Tourism Information Officer VS Lakshman Rao.

Sources said that the tourism department officials have been waiting for the Forest department clearance for the development of Sagarnagar and Yendada beaches as a part of land belongs to the Forest department.
