Elderly couple dies in mishap
An elderly aged couple died on the spot and two others sustained serious injuries in a road accident when a car in which they were travelling hit a stationary lorry from behind on NH-16 stretch near Regupalem area under Elamanchili police station limits in Vizag district on Saturday morning.
Visakhapatnam: An elderly aged couple died on the spot and two others sustained serious injuries in a road accident when a car in which they were travelling hit a stationary lorry from behind on NH-16 stretch near Regupalem area under Elamanchili police station limits in Vizag district on Saturday morning.
The deceased were identified as AD Murthy (65) and his wife A Anasuya. The injured were Murthy’s son A Satya Sai Srinivas and his grandson A Anil. All of them hail from Kakinada of East Godavari district. Inspector of Elamanchili K Venkata Rao said the accident happened when they were heading towards Gajuwaka in Vizag to attend a marriage reception.
Srinivas was driving the car and lost control over the vehicle due to over speeding and hit the lorry parked on the road-side. Murthy and his wife died with head injuries on the spot and the injured person’s condition is said to be stable. The police registered a case and investigation is on.
