Vijayawada: Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham made it clear that he was seeking reservations only for the deprived sections among Kapus but not for the creamy layer. He appealed to the TDP government to keep its pre-poll promise of extending reservations to the community.

The Kapu patriarch was here in the city on Sunday to participate in the Amaravati Sarva Kapu Sammelanam.

While asserting that he would continue to fight for the cause, he said he had to postpone his proposed indefinite fast keeping students’ future in mind. He requested the Manjunatha Commission to submit its report at the earliest to facilitate the speedy redressal of the issue. “We are just asking what was promised to us in the election manifesto by TDP.

This does not mean giving key posts to some 10 to 15 persons from the community. Our intention is to help the most-deprived person in the community,” he said and added that he was not any seeking any share from BC reservations. Meanwhile, he hit back strongly against the TDP leaders who said the former was acting upon the advice of Opposition leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. “My experience in politics is more than his age (Jagan),” he remarked.
