Non-Governmental Organisations urged to open water kiosks
Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Kodandarami Reddy gave a call for Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), philanthropists and other private agencies to come forward for opening water kiosks in the city to quench the thirst of passersby in summer. The RDO inaugurated water kiosks at Balaji Nagar Colony in the city on Tuesday, set up by a social worker Parthasarathi Naidu.
Chittoor: Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Kodandarami Reddy gave a call for Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), philanthropists and other private agencies to come forward for opening water kiosks in the city to quench the thirst of passersby in summer. The RDO inaugurated water kiosks at Balaji Nagar Colony in the city on Tuesday, set up by a social worker Parthasarathi Naidu.

Speaking on the occasion, Reddy said that the NGOs should take efforts for opening more water kiosks across the city. He stated that services of NGOs will be complimentary to government services. He informed the gathering that the government has been providing medical services to sunstroke victims. The RDO admitted that there is a rise in sunstroke deaths for the last 15 days.
He said water kiosk is more like the first-aid centre. He made an appeal to NGOs for opening water kiosks at bus stations, railway stations, factories and busy junctions in the city. He advised people to support NGOs for opening water kiosk in the city. Parthasarathi said that he has been spending Rs 2,000 every day for distribution of drinking water, buttermilk, ORS packets and first-aid kits to the public.
“My mission is to supply buttermilk and drinking water to children and elderly persons,” he added. He stated that he would continue water kiosk until the completion of a summer season. School students and nearby residents have attended the programme in large number.
