Vijayawada: The path laid by Bhuma Nagi Reddy to cross the fence from the Opposition YSRCP to the ruling Telugu Desam Party continues to be used by other MLAs.

On Thursday, two more legislators from the YSRCP joined the ruling TDP. With this, the number of MLAs who followed the path to reach out to the ruling party from the Opposition had touched 16.

The YSRCP legislators, Budda Rajasekhar Reddy from Srisailam in Kurnool district and K Sarveswara Rao from Araku in Visakhapatnam district, have joined the TDP in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday.

The former Congress MLA from Pendurthi in Visakhapatnam, who is now with the YSRCP, Gandi Babji, had also joined the bandwagon of the ruling party, along with their supporters.

The two legislators and the former legislators have met the Chief Minister at his riverfront residence near Undavalli and formally joined the ruling party. Later, the Chief Minister also addressed the supporters of the Srisailam legislator at a function hall in Tadepalli.

Starting with Bhuma Nagi Reddy and his daughter Akhila Priya, both MLAs from Kurnool district, the YSRCP had lost 16 legislators and one MLC in a row from February this year.

Even as the party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is knocking at every door in Delhi against the defections, his legislators are waiting in a queue at the Chief Minister’s residence to join the ruling party.

With the Thursday’s defection, the strength of the Opposition YSRCP in the Assembly had come down to 51 from 67. The ruling party leaders declared that they have more than half a dozen legislators ready to join the party taking the defection toll to 21, the number which Jaganmohan Reddy had actually wanted to topple the TDP government a few months ago.

The TDP leaders also claim that they also have indications from two to three MPs from the YSRCP to switchover loyalties to the ruling party.

Sources said that the YSRCP is also prepared to lose six more legislators, two each from Kurnool, Prakasam and Krishna districts in the weeks to come. The YSRCP leaders also have the list of legislators who would be crossing the fence in the next two months.

The YSRCP had so far lost Bhuma Nagi Reddy from Nandyal, Bhuma Akhila Priya from Allagadda, C Adinarayana Reddy from Jammalamadugu, K V Ramana Murthy from Pathapatnam in Srikakulam, Ravu Venkata Sujay Krishna Rangarao from Bobbili in Vizianagaram, K Sarveswara Rao from Araku in Visakhapatnam,
