The leader of Opposition, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy faced a backlash from the ruling TDP where the party leaders alleged that that the former had financial interests outside the country made out of land deals mortgaging the interests of farmers in the state.

TDP MLA Dhulipala Narendra alleged that Jagan mortgaged his Opposition Leader status to Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao by gaining irrigation project contracts for his party leaders in the neighbouring State.

The TDP leaders pointed out that Jagan had no right to fight for the farmers' cause as the irrigation projects would be taken up in Telangana by YSRCP leaders. Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu too came to the fore making serious charges against the Opposition leader for making money out of land deals allotted to the projects -the Indu project, Indu Tech Zone and Lepakshi Knowledge Park by the government.

Speaking to the reporters on Thursday, Yanamala alleged that Varaprasad whose investments abroad were revealed by Panama Papers was a benami of Jagan. The minister further stated that Jagan had allegedly made money by mortgaging the lands and demanded that the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate probe into Jagan's foreign assets.
