Vijayawada: State government is taking all necessary steps to equip faculty and students to take the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) examination from next academic year seriously. “A committee with experts from the discipline will discuss a plan of action to be implemented’’, said Minister for Medical Education Kamineni Srinivas.

Addressing the media at his office here on Saturday, Minister said that the Chief Minister is keen to sketch concrete plans to enable our teachers to impart skills among students to face national eligibility test in a much better way. The syllabus (which includes nearly 10 per cent of CBSE curriculum) has to be revised and students should be encouraged to perform well in national-level tests.

NEET however will be held in seven other languages except English and Hindi, he said.

“There are apprehensions over allotment of B Category seats in private medical colleges. No need to pay any amount to secure a seat that is not mentioned by the University or College administration since they have to pay the prescribed fee directly to the colleges after counselling. NRI quota seats may be sold for a hefty price but if any management tries to sell their share of seats will be punished’’, added Kamineni.

PPP mode will benefit public and common man at large. People are misunderstanding it to privatization. PPP mode will facilitate better access to the services of specialists who otherwise are not available in the government hospitals at competitive pay scales. Under the model, 25 per cent of the total amount will be given to the specialists, 10 per cent to the paramedical staff, 20 per cent goes to the Arogyasri scheme and 40 per cent will be utilized for development of the hospital. This minimizes the budget and maximizes the services which are available for common man.

KIMS hospital has come forward to join hands with Vijayawada GGH while Care hospitals is keen on offering their services at Vishakhapatnam GGH. Within another 10 days, the GGH at Kurnool will start working on surgeries and Tirupati’s hospital is also being taken under this model, added Minister Kamineni.
