‘Corporate edn free for meritorious students’
Additional Joint Collector Venkata Reddy said 3,238 meritorious students, who completed their Class 10 in the Government Social Welfare hostels, Ashram Schools, Kasturba Schools, best available schools
Visakhapatnam: Additional Joint Collector Venkata Reddy said 3,238 meritorious students, who completed their Class 10 in the Government Social Welfare hostels, Ashram Schools, Kasturba Schools, best available schools, Municipal, Zilla Parishad and Aided Schools and secured seven GPA or more, would get free Intermediate education in corporate schools in the district.
D Venkata Reddy chaired a meeting with the officials regarding this scheme on Tuesday and asked the students to submit the applications for this scheme on apepass.cgg.gov.inwebsite.
“The students, who got seven and above in the March 2016 SSC examinations and are from SC, ST, BC, EBC and minority communities could apply for this scheme. The annual income of the parents of SC and ST students should not exceed Rs 2 lakh and Rs 1 lakh in the case of the parents belonging to BC, EBC and minority students. The maximum admissible fee under the scheme is Rs 35,000 per annum per student and the students are also eligible for an amount of Rs 3,000 towards pocket allowance and maintenance charges,” Reddy said.
Out of the total 3,238 seats, 1,327 seats are reserved for SC students, 604 seats for ST students, 738 seats for BC students, 215 seats for BC C students, 183 seats for EBC students and 171 seats for minorities. The applicants have to register their names on the apepass.cgg.gov.inwebsites between May 26 and 30 and first phase of admissions will start on June 20.
On the occasion, Additional Joint Collector Venkata Reddy directed the officials to make sure that no discrepancies take place in the selection of students. Assistant Director of the Social Welfare Department D Ramana Murthy and others were present.
