Kakinada: The review meet organised by Andhra Pradesh SC, ST Commission at the Collectorate on Tuesday discussed various issues relating to welfare of these sections, including filling up of backlog posts in various departments in East Godavari district.

Commission Chairman Karem Sivaji during a review meet resented the delay in payment of compensation to victims under various atrocity cases.

On coming to know that there are 45 cases pending for which the compensation has to be paid, he sought an explanation from the district authorities on the issue.

Noticing abnormal delay in settlement of compensation, the Chairman urged both the revenue and police authorities to act on humanitarian grounds and settle the amount immediately.

Delay in payment of compensation will further affect the future prospects of victims, he pointed out.

Turning his attention towards the backlogposts in the district, he directed the auhorties to speed up the activity so as to enable existing 269 vacancies filled up before June 30.

If these vacancies are not filled these sections would be deprived of employment in the government sector, he said.
