Visakhapatnam: Minister for Human Resources Development Ganta Srinivasa Rao lashed out against Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham and expressed doubts over the veteran leader’s commitment to the welfare of Kapus. The Minister released a letter in which he posed 20 questions to Mudragada, at the Government Circuit House, here on Sunday.

  • Accuses him of staging agitation for political gains
  • Challenges him to reveal the kingpin behind the agitation for Kapus
  • Releases a letter to be sent to Mudragada

Stating that he will send the letter to the Kapu leader, Ganta questioned the rationale behind Mudragada meeting leaders of other political parties and accused him of using the community for political gains. It may be mentioned here that the veteran leader met Congress MP Chiranjeevi and APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy in Hyderabad on Saturday and reportedly discussed his action plan to fight for Kapus.

However, Mudragada clarified that he met the Congress leaders to thank them for their support to his earlier protest. Continuing his tirade, the Minister asked why the Kapu leader was tightlipped about the leaders like YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who failed to honour the promise of BC status for Kapus.

He reiterated that the TDP government was committed to uplift the Kapu community and the fact that a Kapu Welfare Corporation was set up with funds of Rs 1,000 crore, stands a testimony. Ganta found fault with Mudragada for criticising Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. “Mudragada must know that the government has already constituted BC Commission to work out the modalities.

There will be no legality to the inclusion of Kapus in BC list until the Commission submits its report,” the Minister explained. The Minister challenged the Kapu leader to reveal the name of kingpin behind his agitation in the name of Kapu welfare and also make public the names of those, who planned and steered the Tuni.

“If you were committed to fighting for the welfare of the Kapu community, how come you lost in the elections from a segment that has a majority of Kapu population,” he questioned.
