Hyderabad: Yerragondapalem, Kadapa, and Utukuru received seven cm of rainfall during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Thursday due to a persisting trough from Vidarbha to South Tamil Nadu across Telangana State and south coastal AP. The Met officials said on Thursday that an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over the south-west bay and adjoining west-central bay off the AP coast.

The Met office warned of heavy rainfall with thunderstorm and squall occurring at isolated places in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East & West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore (coastal Andhra Pradesh) and Chittoor, Kadapa, Anantapur and Kurnool (Rayalaseema) districts during next 72 hours.

Amounts of rainfall in different parts of the State were like Bapatla (6 cm), Avanigada, Balajipeta, Veligandla, Podili, Allagadda, Gonegandla (5 cm each), Gudivada, Nuzvid, Ranastalam, Machilipatnam, Mangalagiri, Lam, Jammalamadugu, Devanakonda, Rudravaram, Proddutur and Duvvur (4 cm each), Venkatagirikota, Nandavaram, Pattikonda, Ardhaveedu, Udayagiri, Parvathipuram, Racherla, Garugubilli, Seethanagaram, Guntur, Repalle, Cumbum, Tenali and Peddapuram (3 cm each).

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at few places in the coastal districts and Rayalaseema from June 3 to 6. During the last 24 hours, there was a marked rise in the day temperatures at one or two places in the coastal districts, but no large change was found in Rayalaseema.

They were appreciably above normal at one or two places in coastal AP and normal in Rayalaseema. The highest maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jangamaheswarapuram and Machilipatnam.
